What happened was a very good example of a failure to understand the contributions of other jobs. It turned out he had a friend, a 95 GEO, that he was trying to help level, so they got invited too. Towards the end, I noticed a 99 NIN in sparks gear slowly soloing individual critters and invited him to join us. I recapped in 2 rounds, but since Farzin had recently leveled a bunch of jobs to 99, we kept going to help him cap his job specific merits, as well as general merits that he hadn't capped since the last time they raised the cap on certain categories. We'd recap at 45 merits after 2-3 pulls, warp back to spend then, then back to Escha for another round. As he brought then in I would cast Entomb to knock off 50% of their HP and petrify them (occasionally a couple would resist), then follow up with Spectral Flow or Anvil Lightning to finish them off (and third spell as needed to mop up stragglers).

I went as BLU/SCH, /SCH for the full powered stoneskin, aquaveil, and reraise, with minimal Dual Wield job trait set (so I could wield my MAB/MDam sword and club combo), four of the hybrid elemental spells (Entomb - aoe damage + petrify, Spectral Floe - aoe damage + terror, Anvil Lightning - aoe damage + stun, and Blinding Fulgor - aoe damage + flash), and support spells like Plenilune Embrace for curing and Battery Charge for refresh, Cocoon (DEF+) and Barrier Tusk (phalanx) and Plasma Charge (shock spikes) to keep me alive.įarzin would gather up 20-30 critters while I waited back at camp. We headed off to Escha-Zi'Tah, to the dragon/puk camp at portal #2. Since my BLU was newly empowered, I wanted to try cleaving for xp/cap points on BLU instead of BST. Later, when Farzin, our Aegis PLD, logged in as himself, we and another LS mate went to recap merits and restock our merit KIs. The Shouty One had to leave earlier than normal, so we called it a day as group there. Then we did a full slate of merit KI runs with me on WHM: Garuda, Carbuncle, Fenrir, Diabolos, Puppet in Peril, Tenzen (I got the STP ammo piece), Omega/Ultima (I got the SMN neck piece), and Promathia. We did three Sinister Reign runs, with me on BST (I got a max augments Ingrid dagger). On Sunday, it was the usual activity time. That just leaves the three Vagary boss spells, WKR/Delve Shark, WKR/Delve Tree (ugh.), and WKR/Delve Bird.Įach of the hybrid elemental spells takes 8 set points to set, and give a full level of its associated job trait, so they're nice, but a BLU can't set too many of them at once. I got the other three I was missing on the next run. I got one spell on the first run, which was cut short when I had a power flicker. On Saturday, I resolved to get the rest of the hybrid elemental spells, so I logged in the Shouty One on my little computer and used her to manage the monster wrangler book in Alluvion Yorcia while I hunted spells on BLU.
